Herbal Programming One of the benefits of membership of the Herb
Society is to participate in our informative programming. General Meetings of
the Herb Society of Manitoba are held at Assiniboine Park Conservatory. The
Conservatory is located at 15 Conservatory Drive in Assiniboine Park, in
Winnipeg, Manitoba. Meetings start at 7:00 p.m. and are generally held on the
third Monday of each month except for December, July and August. The schedule
for this calendar year is listed on our Programming page. Attendance at meetings
is free to our members. Guests are welcome. There is a $5.00 fee for guests to
attend.
The Bev Lloyd Memorial Library The Bev Lloyd Memorial Library is a great resource available only to members of the Herb Society. Books are signed out from the Herb Society's Library at General Meetings. Each year, all books are collected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is held in June, and are then made available again for borrowing the following September. Due to the increasing size of the library, not all books are brought to each meeting. Attempts are made to provide seasonally relevant books. You can talk to the Librarian at General meetings or send her an email to see if books on a specific topic are available and arrange to have a particular book or two brought to the next meeting for you. Contact our Librarian by email at: library@herbsocietymb.com. Please give her sufficient warning to locate books prior to a meeting.
The Herb Garden located near the Conservatory at Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg Manitoba is one of our proudest accomplishments. The garden became a reality in the spring of 1997 when the Women's Television Network (WTN) was filming a program called the Herbal Primer. The Herb Society of Manitoba continues to maintain and develop this lovely garden designed by Landscape Architect and Herb Society member, Natasa Juck.
Each season, Herb Society members volunteer their time and efforts to plant, maintain and harvest herbs from our garden. Donations toward the ongoing upkeep of the garden can be made by sending a cheque or money order made out to the Herb Society of Manitoba: Herb Garden and mailing it to the Herb Society of Manitoba, PO Box 61004 RPO Grant Park, Winnipeg, MB R3M 3X8. Make sure you visit our lovely garden when you visit the park!
One of the benefits of membership of the Herb Society — our members are entitled to have their businesses listed on our website. To submit your information for the website contact the Website Chair at: webmaster@herbsocietymb.com. Get your business listed on the Internet!
The Society distributes an interesting and informative newsletter to its membership called the Prairie Sage Quarterly (PSQ). The PSQ contains information about our upcoming speakers and activities as well as informative book reviews and articles on the use of herbs, including great herbal recipes to try. Select back issues are available for viewing from the PSQ page.
